Dear Members and Colleagues,
I hope this message finds you well and that you are continuing the vital work of advancing healthcare in correctional settings. I am pleased to share two significant updates as we look to the future of our organization. First, our upcoming annual conference, 'Shaping the Future of Correctional Health, ' is set to take place on October 22-24 in Sacramento, CA. This event will bring together members, partners, and thought leaders for a dynamic program of learning, networking, and celebration. This gathering will offer an opportunity for professionals across our field to share insights, research, and best practices while fostering stronger collaborations between jails and prisons. This conference promises to energize you, offering engaging sessions and expert panels.
Second, I am pleased to announce the start of a new presidential term. As a part of our continued evolution and growth, WACHSA celebrates new leadership every three years. I have enjoyed my term as president and look forward to continuing to support Karina Purcell as she assumes the president's duties. Karina is currently the Vice-President of Nursing Initiatives for WellPath. With over 30 years of experience in healthcare, Karina brings a deep understanding and a strong commitment to our mission of ensuring quality, ethical, and equitable care for incarcerated individuals. Her leadership will be instrumental as we take on new challenges.
On behalf of the board, I want to thank all of you for your dedication to WACHSA and your continued support of our annual conferences. Together, we have a unique opportunity-- and responsibility --to shape the future of correctional healthcare. I look forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming conference.
