This award honors exceptional correctional healthcare professionals who demonstrate unwavering dedication and distinguished service through their career. Recipients of this prestigious accolade significantly enhance healthcare processes within carceral settings through their advocacy, adherence to and development of standards, policy formulation, creation of innovative programs, and committed community service.
Key to Care Award
Presented to a correctional healthcare professional who has demonstrated extraordinary vision in a challenging environment. This award recognizes an individual who has not only provided exceptional clinical care to those "behind the bars" but has also developed and implemented an innovative program or systemic change that "unlocks" a higher standard of health for patients and a more efficient, supportive workspace for their colleagues.
Custody Medical Liaison Award
Recognizes custody staff who exemplify exceptional leadership and responsiveness in addressing inmate health needs, particularly in the absence of onsite medical staff. Nominees demonstrate consistent and sustained measures--through actions or policy--that enhance the health, safety, and well-being of both the incarcerated population and their peers. Their exemplary behavior sets a standard for improving facility operations and fostering a culture of care and collaboration.
